1. WHO ARE YOU? TELL US A LITTLE MORE ABOUT YOURSELF ...
My name is Tepsii. I live in Pretoria South Africa where I'm raising 3 young girls with my husband, Sean. I'm a copywriting teacher/expert and also an online business coach for soulful entrepreneurs.
2. WHAT DO YOU DO? TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS.
I've been running my business since March 2015 and I quit my day job in May 2015. I've never looked back since, and I really enjoy working to help people discover and make money while doing what they love most.
3. A COUPLE QUICK QUESTIONS FOR FUN ...
+ Favorite morning drink? I love a good chai latte or organic black tea.
+ Introvert or Extrovert? I'm the biggest introvert you've ever met. However, when I'm with people I'm always the life of the party. You won't be able to tell I'm an introvert at all. When I get home from being with people I literally collapse on my bed to recharge!
+ Currently obsessed with ... Funnels. I know it's so weird... I'm obsessed with marketing and the process someone goes through from being a casual browser/acquaintance to becoming a client. I think it's a lot like the dating process. It's a delicate dance and since I studied interpersonal communication in undergrad this is super fascinating to me.
However, since I live in South Africa, I'm even more obsessed with going on Safari and witnessing elephants in their natural habitat. I feel strongly called to them - it's a spiritual experience!
+ Word or theme of the year? Surrender - it is all about surrender and allowing life to flow through us and around us. I've spent a lifetime in resistance. Surrender reminds me that the universe and God have my back!
+ Favorite indulgence? 2 hour thai massages and long game drives while on safari!
4. WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU TO CREATE A LIVE MORE, WORK LESS BUSINESS + LIFESTYLE?
It means walking away from the laptop and going out to experience life. It means allowing a business partner to enter into your life. For me that's not another human, it's God. It means designing your life around your desires and allowing your business to support you, vs. you being wrapped up in the day to day of your business.
5. WHAT ARE SOME STEPS YOU'VE TAKEN IN YOUR BUSINESS TO INTENTIONALLY MAKE IT MORE ALIGNED WITH THE WAY YOU DESIRE TO LIVE YOUR LIFE?
I don't take meetings on Mondays because they are MINE! I also take 2-3 Fridays off a month so I can have fun and indulge in a massage.
I don't message back and forth with clients. Instead I use a project management board called Trello to communicate. This way they understand that I require space to serve them creatively and I can't be on call all the time.
In the beginning of my business I was always on call and always a YES woman, even when it didn't serve me. I've started to make content around why that is dangerous in an effort to teach my clients and myself why it's important to have boundaries and some semblance of balance.
6. WHAT'S YOUR "WHY" FOR PURSUING A LIVE MORE, WORK LESS BUSINESS?
I believe that the new woman's liberation movement is a financial one and it's through online businesses that we'll change the world. I know that the Dalai Lama said it is the western woman that will save the world, and I believe that.
However, I've got a foot in the western world, and a foot at home, in South Africa where I'm from. I am obsessed with the idea of giving back to the community where I'm from through empowering people and teaching them how to build sustainable online businesses.
I was raised in the US from age 6 and came back to my home country at age 31. It's been an interesting ride for the past 2 years (since Aug 2015) as I learn to re-acclimate to my home. The major reason I came home was to be able to share this message with the women here.
I also am in business for my personal freedom and to be able to be in close proximity to my family of origin that I was away from for so many years.
7. HOW DO YOU CURRENTLY STRUCTURE YOUR WORKDAY OR WEEK?
I don't take meetings on Mondays or Fridays. I take most Fridays off. My mornings are full with my morning routine, journaling, meditation with my husband, and the gym.
The afternoons are reserved and broken down into client work, marketing/promotion work, and checking in on my plans for the month/week/year.
8. WHAT TYPES OF HOBBIES, ACTIVITIES, AND OTHER FUN THINGS DO YOU INTENTIONALLY INCLUDE IN YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE OF YOUR BUSINESS?
I love to have big dinner parties with friends. I'm not a great host, and I don't like cooking, but my hubby is great and he loves to cook, lol. In addition we love to spend a lot of time with our family as we braii (South African version of a BBQ), play games, and laugh. My time at the gym or doing yoga/tai chi is very important to me and it really centers me.
9. WHAT DO YOU FIND AS THE BIGGEST STRUGGLE IN YOUR ONGOING QUEST TO BUILD A LIVE MORE, WORK LESS BUSINESS + LIFESTYLE?
The balance between work and play vs. dreaming and taking action is always a tough one for me. When I'm in work mode I find it tough to shut down and play. When I'm in play mode I just can't be bothered to turn on my computer, even if I NEED to in that moment.
I think this is a function of the burn out I experienced last year. I sometimes feel that I'm PUSHING myself to do something which never feels good. I also have found myself not getting as excited to do the things I used to love, and I'm currently incorporating more spiritual practices and retreat getaways so that I can recenter/refocus.
