What's your WHY???
It's a question you often hear asked, especially in the online entrepreneurial space ... What's your WHY?
Or said in a slightly different way ...
- Why do you do what you do?
- Why do you get up every day and keep striving forward with your business?
- Ultimately what's driving you?
- What's makes it so that giving up isn't an option?
- What inspires you to do the work you do?
Maybe your "WHY" is money, or freedom to travel, or time with your kids. All which are 100% EXCELLENT reasons to be pursuing your entrepreneurial pursuits ...
But I encourage you to dig deeper.
If your why is money ... why specifically do you want that money? And I mean SPECIFICALLY!
Not just, "I want to buy a house for my family" ... I want to know where this house is located, which neighborhood you're moving into, how many bedrooms it has, where the tree is that you're going to hang your son's swing on, what color the bathroom tile will be, and where you'll be placing your grandmother's treasured jewelry box that she passed on to you.
The point is, that the more specific you can get with your WHY, the most focus and energy you'll be putting into it. And the more time you'll spend dreaming about it, and therefore the more you'll be taking concrete action steps towards making it happen.
Call it manifestation ... call it the universe having your back ... call it whatever you like .... having a concrete WHY is an excellent first step towards creating your LIVE MORE, WORK LESS lifestyle.
Today we're featuring entrepreneurs across a variety of industries, lifestyles, locations, and life situations that have shared some amazing WHY's to inspire you to find your own!
QUESTION: What's Your WHY?
Many of you dream of travel ...
Jordan Beck Wagner @ wayfaringwithwagner.com: More time to travel and run my travel blog. I live in Europe and want to take advantage of all the amazing countries! Work shouldn't be your life - work should just assist you in creating your dream life.
Jessica Warrick @ jessicawarrick.us: I want to help my family grow through seeing the world through their own eyes and not through books. I dream of the day we can start traveling and experience cultures from a first hand perspective.
Some of you have had perspective-changing experiences ...
Lourdes McCombs @ monarkvs.com: A car slipped on the highway on an icy day and the pole crashed into my car, nearly killing me. I'm lucky to be alive and well, but have not gotten over driving in the winter. After therapy, I still can't get on the roads when there's thick snow and ice! I can't call into work to take off the entire winter season, so my prayers were answered when I stumbled upon becoming a Virtual Assistant.
Zhade Metts @ thegracefulolive.com: My thoughts used to be so much more selfish and "world" driven before my daughter had cancer. Something extreme like that really puts things into perspective. Things are just things. Money is just money. The real value is people and time. So I want to live more with the people that are important to me! I want to only spend the minimum amount of time on things that don't bring me joy!
You're Passionate about living in the present ...
Tracy Lynn @ simplelivingcountrygal.com: The older I get the more I realize how precious life is. I do not want to sit on the sidelines waiting for my "time". I am taking it by the tail and making my life one I look forward to living each and every single day. I'm a full-time blogger, and I am proof that you can start a new venture at any age. Yes, even blogging!
Paola Mendez @ thebloggerunion.com: I want to live my life. Not work my life. I want to enjoy my life today, and not put off my happiness until retirement or the future. Living in the now is important to me.
moms reaaaallllly love their kids ...
Julie McCorkle @ julesandco.net: I want to be there for my kids! I want them to remember their early years with mama as swinging in the back yard and slow, peaceful days. I don't want them to remember me as a face behind a computer screen. I want them to know they come first.
Tiffany Matthews @ shecoordinatesit.com: My kids are teenagers! I'm freaking out about enjoying these last few years of having everyone at home. My oldest will be a senior next year. I want to make sure that I do my best to pour into them as they prepare to be adults. ( totally crying over here, lol)
You're striving to make more so you can give more ...
Vanessa King @ pursuesimplejoy.com: TIME freedom and FINANCIAL freedom :) The ability to say YES to give to people and organizations we are passionate about. We're tired of living by someone else's rules and want to live a life of freedom to travel and do what we want ;) Ultimately, we want to be able to say YES to those in need and live with open hands and hearts!
Kristi Porter @ signify.solutions: I've had chronic health issues for over five years, so while being an entrepreneur has it's own challenges and issues, it is the best path for me to take in gaining some more control over my schedule. And it gives me the freedom to travel and give back in a way that aligns with my values. Freedom is having the ability to make my own choices, and I definitely choose to live more and work less! Plus, I do much better as my own boss. ;)
And you love being your own boss + creating your own reality ...
Jules Tillman @ creatingbeautifully.com: I guess you could say that there is still a rebellious 15 year old teenager inside of me. Even when I went back to art school (in my 30s!), when a teacher said "you can't do such and such!" I was like, WHY NOT? I do what I want! haha! When I worked for other people I was always an excellent employee, but I always love to say I am the best boss I've ever had!
Having my own business, doing what I love, creating art that fulfills me, what could be better than that? My fiance and I bought a Powerball ticket when it was like 400 million, and I actually thought about what would happen in we won. I honestly think I'd keep doing exactly what I'm doing now, just from a house on the water with a couple of virtual assistants. ;)
Danise Sumner @ busybeecoach.com: I want to have as many options for my life and future as possible. I am young and never want to feel stuck or unhappy. I have come to realize that it's never too early or too late to just START! What do you have to loose? The worst thing that happens is that you LEARN something new.
Stepping outside your comfort zone can be scary but what's scarier to me is staying comfortable, and settling. I want to live my BEST life, and use my gifts to serve others. Life is too short to do things that make you unhappy or don't set your soul on fire!
